Tradewinds Racing is a women's cycling team dedicated to the promotion of competitive cycling through community support and team development. We are a small team who makes a big impact in the region with consistent results and valuable community involvement. Team riders set goals that push their limits and improve their racing, evaluate goals throughout the season, and work together as a team as much as possible. As a team and individuals we will continually strive for success. We will learn from every race, our mistakes as well as our victories!
Tradewinds Racing has two levels: Elite & Developmental.
Tradewinds Racing Developmental Team is designed for riders who are category 3 or 4 at the start of the season. These riders compete locally, regionally, and sometimes nationally, in a variety of races. Developmental riders are selected because they have shown a commitment to racing, desire and capacity to improve as a competitive cyclist, and of course a good attitude. The developmental team is limited. Joining the club team is a great way to be considered for the developmental team.
With success riders in the developmental program can upgrade racing categories and progress onto the Elite Team, which consists of category 1 and category 2 riders. In the past ten years the Elite Team has competed at some of the toughest race in the country including Liberty Classic, pro stage races, national championships, NRC and USA Crits. Cycling is a unique sport because many women begin racing after college, as their high school and college sports careers have ended. Competitive cycling is a great way to be a part of an athletic team as an adult. More information on racing in Virginia.
